All About My Handmade Goats Milk Soaps

handmade goats milk soaps from Pleasant Grove Soaps

My handmade goats milk soaps are cold processed, old fashion lye soaps made with fresh, not powdered, goats milk. They are made in small batches in my kitchen. Thank heavens you can't see my Kitchen!

Each batch weighs about sixteen pound and makes about 45 bars of soap. The soap is mixed, poured into molds, covered and allowed to insulate for eighteen to twenty four hours. It is then taken out of the molds, cut and cured (air dried) for at least three to four weeks before it is boxed and ready to sell.

My base oils are all high grade vegetable oils (No Animal Fats): palm oil, palm kernel oil, coconut oil, olive oil and soybean oil.

The Extras that are added at the end of the soap making process are: goats milk, sweet almond oil, aloe vera gel, Vitamin E and the fragrance oil. In some of my soaps I also add oatmeal and honey.

I don't use artificial coloring in my soap the different shades come from the fragrance oil or extra ingredients like honey or oatmeal that I may add.

I do use Lye (sodium hydroxide). You can not have "soap" without lye. Check your commercial soap box label Sodium Tallowate is Sodium Hydroxide and Tallow (beef fat).

The difference in my handmade goats milk soaps, or any good lye soap for that matter, is the way it makes you skin feel. A good lye soap will leave your skin feeling moisturized and silky. Part of the reason for this is that hand crafted lye soaps retain their glycerin which is a natural by-product of the soap making process, glycerin is a natural moisturizer.

Commercial soap companies extract the glycerin from their soaps to use in other cosmetic products, that’s why they leave you skin feeling tight, dry and itchy.

It wasn't until I started adding goats milk to my soaps I realized that I had a whole different product. Goats milk adds: vitamins, minerals, nutrients and calcium which is absorbed into your skin every time you bathe. Goat milk is also a natural moisturizer and is very close to you own skins pH balance.

Goat milk soaps have proven to be beneficial for people with many kinds of skin problems including acne, psoriasis, rosacea and eczema. People with very sensitive skin are benefited, too.

I never dreamed when I first started soap making that my soaps would make a difference in so many peoples lives. The testimonies I get really brightens my day. If you have one that you would like to send in click here.
